ECR oral communication session
The EuroBIC-18 Local Organising Committee, alongside the SBIC ECR Committee, are pleased to announce that there will be 10 dedicated ECR oral presentation slots within the main conference programme. This is to provide opportunities for ECRs (including Masters students, PhD scholars and postdoctoral researchers) to showcase their research to the international bioinorganic chemistry community and engage with leading scientists in the field.
The presenters were selected following a peer-review process, taking into account factors including career stage, research field, gender balance, diversity and geographic location to ensure we have broad representation of ECRs. Each will receive a Certificate of Achievement and a prize. Please note "Early Career Researchers" refers to individuals who are within ten years of receiving their highest degree (MSc, PhD, etc.), with consideration for career breaks such as parental leave, illness, or other factors.
ECR Networking event
Furthermore, in order to promote the personal and professional development of ECRs during EuroBIC-18 and further advance our SBIC ECR Professional Network, a separate ECR social gathering will take place during the Conference.
The SBIC Early Career Researcher (ECR) Committee, in collaboration with the EuroBIC-18 organisers, invites you to register your interest for a dedicated networking and professional development evening for early-career researchers on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, which will be held after conference sessions of EuroBIC-18
This event will bring together a small group of ECRs for focused discussions with invited speakers and industry representatives in an interactive setting. Confirmed sessions include:
• JASCO – practical insights on setting up a research laboratory and transitioning to independence
• Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) – guidance on manuscript preparation, including titles, abstracts, responding to reviewers, the publishing process, and appropriate use of AI
Places at this event will be limited; therefore, they will be allocated by lottery to registered attendees.
Cost: €15 (includes dinner)
Registration deadline: 19 June 2026
Outcome notification: Successful applicants will be notified in the end of June
